Passover 1917, Camp Douglas (Isle of Man)

Passover 1917 booklet - Camp Douglas, Isle of Man

Last year I conducted a Google search, one of those searches that you think will not produce anything but run them just to make sure. I was extremely surprised when it resulted in locating a booklet from Camp Douglas that was auctioned off just a short period earlier than I found the listing. This booklet was edited by my great-grandfather (Moses Frostig) while interned at Douglas Alien Camp (Isle of Man) and was issued around Pesach 1917.

I have sent a message to the auction house detailing my interest in contacting the person that has bought the booklet a while back. They have forwarded my message to him and I have requested to view the booklet and if possible copy it. Sadly even though the response was positive this has not happened.

The only other copy I was able to find is at the Military Archive in Freiburg, Germany. I have written to the archive in the hopes of requesting a scanned copy from them to no avail.

As my father recently visited Freiburg, I have sent him the address of the archive and the archival file number I am interested in.

Well, we are now just a couple of days from Passover 2019, 102 years have passed since the booklet was issued, and the great-granddaughter of the original editor has a copy of this piece of history.

The real work begins now needing to translate at least part of this 12-page booklet written in German.
